Discover Your Identity
Written By Ruthven Roy on February 15th, 2010But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ – Philippians 3:20
There are only two identities available to all mankind—one we receive from Adam, the other we receive from Christ. One identity is from earth (the natural or earthly); the other is from heaven (spiritual or heavenly). The Bible says that “the first man, Adam, became a living soul.” The last Adam [Christ] became a life-giving spirit. 46However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. 47The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven (1 Corinthians 15:45-47, bracket mine). Let us compare these two identities so that you could find your true self.

2. From heaven (heavenly) 3. Spiritual 4. Born-again of God – John 1:12, 13 5. Born-again spirit – John 3:6 6. Born incorruptible – 1 Pet. 1:23; Eph. 4:24 7. One spirit with Christ – 1 Cor. 6:17 8. These two identities bequeaths two different legacies. The Bible says that all who are identified with Adam inherits the birthright of sin and eternal death; those identified with Christ inherits the legacy of righteousness and eternal life (Romans 5:12; 1 Corinthians 15:22; 2 Corinthians 2:15, 16; 1 John 3:14). Identity is a choice for every believer! One may choose to live from the platform of his Adam life, or enjoy the spiritual freedom of the Christ who lives in his spirit.
