TURN ON THE LIGHT

Jesus draws a very interesting analogy in which He compares the human eye to a lamp. He said, if the eye is clear, then the body is full of light; but if the eye is bad the whole body is full of darkness. However, the real point of Jesus’ lesson has nothing to do with the natural human eye’s function as a lamp. His reference goes much deeper, targeting the eye of the soul—the inner spirit of man. This is the eye (or lamp) which tests the moral fibers of every human being. It is this spirit of man which gives light to his soul and searches out his every thought and motive through the voice of conscience. Because of its separation from God, the Father of Lights (James 1:17; 1 John 1:5), man’s light has become darkness within him, and throws his entire life into a sea of spiritual gloom and obscurity.
The Bible says that Christ is the true light that gives light to everyone who comes into the world (John 1:9); for God, who said, “ Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ (2 Corinthians 4:6).
Is your light darkness? Seek Jesus. He would light up your life! He said that those who follow Him shall never walk about in darkness, but they shall have the Light of life (John 8:12). It’s time to turn on the light. Reach for the Switch–Jesus Christ!
