Core Philosopy
We believe that Christ enunciated the fundamental principle for growing the Kingdom of God in the world when He issued the invitation: “Follow Me and I will make you fish for people” (Matthew 4: 19, NRSV). This principle is so simple that many Christians have either missed it, or have substituted it by doing so many other things they perceive as better or more important. Yet this invitation, buttressed by Christ’s promise, is so profoundly powerful that the promised Kingdom might have already come had all Christendom embraced and practiced it. In it lies the amazing, simple secret for disciple development and explosive Kingdom growth. Through this one-lined strategic statement Christ offers three very important things:
See Dr. Roy’s book, The Explosive Power of Network Discipling, for a more comprehensive explanation of these very powerful concepts.
Network Discipling Ministries have fully embraced this very potent gospel seed as its working philosophy, and have incorporated its fruitful blossoms in a discipling ministry service that is second to none.
Personal invitation
Follow Me! This is a call to follow; not to fish. Many are fishing without following. This is a major reason why Christianity is in so much confusion today.
Powerful transformation
I will make you! What you bring to the table at the time you receive the call be follow Jesus is totally irrelevant. Christ’s unfailing promise to you is this: “If you follow me, I will make or transform you.” The challenge is not in the making, but in the following.
Productive occupation
Fish for people! There is absolutely no chance of failure here. If we choose to follow Him, Christ holds Himself responsible for the total outcome–both the making and the fishing.
