YOUR TREASURE AND YOUR HEART

Written By Ruthven Roy on January 26th, 2011

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field” – Matthew 13:44

Read First: Matthew 6:21; Proverbs 4:23

In Matthew 6:21, Jesus says that a person’s heart follows his treasure, and not the other way around, as many professing Christianity believe. In this context, treasure means much more than money or riches. It really represents the primary, all-inclusive goal that directs all the life’s forces of a person’s existence—thoughts, feelings, ambitions and actions. It is the promise of a fulfilled life seen through the broken lenses of man’s blinded soul.

What is it that powers everything I feel, think or do? THAT IS MY TREASURE! That is the thing that determines how I use all my resource—time, abilities, body, finances and possessions—for or against Christ and His Kingdom.

If Christ and His Kingdom is the treasure of your earthly existence, then your heart, which directs the flow of your life (Proverbs 4:23), will move you to do everything possible to pursue this one supreme goal. Go for Gold! Let your heart follow the call of the King and His Kingdom—your eternal treasure!
